Supercool Double Launch WINNER: Is it YOU?

September 1st, 2010

First off, thanks to everyone who participated in any way in the Supercool Double Launch! I greatly appreciate all the signups and interest and sharing of my work around the web. YOU are amazing!

This post is the exciting conclusion to the Supercool Double Launch FREE Astrology Reading Contest. Who won? Was it you? Watch this superghetto video to find out!

This video cracks me up. We are in Mercury Retrograde right now. It was a very Mercury Retrograde experience. At first I wasn’t sure I even wanted to do the video. Then I wasn’t sure I should be giving out folks’ name in videos. (Decided to go with first name only for now.) Then I got my family to help, and Zane, who loves to be in videos, has ZERO energy in it. Zero. He’s not like that. Right.when I really wanted some enthusiasm for the win! Ha. And, there’s more when you see the video. So anyway, I think it has some comedic value for that, at least.

And it’s fun to watch, because you’ll get to find out who the lucky winner is!!!! IS IT YOU? It might be YOU!

Without further ado, here’s the WINNER…

Be sure to stay tuned because I have a lot planned for the month of September, including much more to LAUNCH and near-daily blog posts. Mmm hm.

Thanks again! I’m so happy you’re here.

Last Day to Participate in Supercool Double Launch Activities!

August 31st, 2010

Alrighty. I’ve been writing some cool stuff about True Work, but we have to take a moment to wrap up the Supercool Double Launch here in the manner it deserves.

That might require confetti.

What it definitely requires is me reminding you…
Today is the last day to be eligible for the FREE Astrology reading drawing.

How do you participate?
Simply sign up for the Supercool Mailing List

After 12:00am Pacific Daylight Time (PDT), I will gather all the names on the Supercool list and do something super high tech like write them on pieces of paper, put them in my husband’s new Stetson hat, and have my kid pick one.

Major excitement! I think I might even let him play with some balloons. (Neater than confetti.)

Are you doing your True Work? If not, are you gonna?

August 30th, 2010

I’ve been talking about work on here some. I think it’s a topic I’ll come back to fairly often. Why? Because it’s so dang important. If we all found our dharma, our True Work, the world would be wonderfully transformed.

Here’s the True Work rundown:

  • Many of us are doing our True Work (Yay!).
  • Some of us want to do our True Work, but don’t know how to get there (Keep tuning in).
  • Some of us have no idea True Work exists (Keep reading…).

What do I mean when I use the phrase “True Work”?

Well, I think it’s something we all have, but can be nebulous to find. And yet is also so obvious. It’s the thing we love to do. It’s what comes naturally to us. It’s what makes our heart sing.

Sometimes we think “I can’t make money at THAT.” (Not true.) But it is also the thing we do even if we DON’T make money at that. Sometimes it’s the thing we loved to do as a child (Reminded of that by the wonderful Sandra Boissier.) It’s often a sum of all the parts of your life up until this point.

True Work is your calling. It’s the thing only you can do. The thing you must do to feel fulfilled. Your True Work is what brought you to this planet. It’s what you need to give. It’s what we need from you.

Sooooo….

Are you doing your True Work?
If not, are you gonna?

(Don’t worry. It doesn’t have to happen all at once. You can take baby steps.)
Now, knowing that, I will repeat the question:

Are you doing your True Work?
If not, are you gonna?

(Remember, it’s what we need from you.)

Are you doing your True Work?
If not, are you gonna?

I leave you with some Great (True) Work from Michael Bungay Stanier (again). The Alchemy of Great Work. (LOVE the word “alchemy”.)

Tell us about your True Work in the comments. I’d love to hear, and I bet others would too. (Plus, then we get a link to your website, right? Share!)

Shoo Be Do: Inspired Action

August 28th, 2010

“If I could do just one near-perfect thing, I’d be happy.
They’d write it on my grave or when they scattered my ashes.
On second thought, I’d rather hang around and
be there with my best friend if she wants me.”

-Belle and Sebastian, If She Wants Me

On the spiritual path, at some point or another, many of us experience the be-do conundrum.  It seems most of the great traditions recommend we focus on the being.  God, I love that.  Contrary to lots of folks’ experience, I could just be for days.  I’m super duper good at doing not a heckuva lot.  Ahhhhh.

But, I’m here in this western world.  And I’m living an earthly existence.  I ain’t in a monastery.  Plus, I got mouths to feed.  How am I gonna do that on being, right?  When I get all be-blissed-out, not a lot gets done.  And then sometimes the little fear voices and guilt voices creep in… “You should be DOING something.”

Well, you know what I say to them?

“Shhhhhhhhh…Let me be.”

I’m doing an experiment.  So far, so good.

Here’s what I believe:

When we let ourselves be, the right doing happens.

It’s called inspired action.  It’s not that we never do ANYTHING.  It’s that when we make our feeling-state a priority (hopefully, feeling GOOD), our spirit calls us to do the right stuff. It’s not always what we think we should be doing (which is often based on societal standards.)

When we feed our inner state first, what we do ends up being far more right.  And timely.  And joyful.  And whatever needs doin’ takes a lot less energy.  And the energy is far better.  And the Law of Attraction can bring us better stuff because we are in a better place. And everything is alright.  Because you get out what you put in, right?  You put in good, you get good. That’s the Law of Attraction, Baby.

So far, so good. I’ll keep you posted. Now, I’m gonna go hang around with my best friend, if she wants me. I bet she does.

What do YOU think about being vs. doing and inspired action? Lay a comment on me.

“So, what do you do?”

August 27th, 2010

Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. -Steve Jobs, Inventor

What’s one of the first questions people ask when they meet you?

“So, what do you do?”

That’s a pretty big question. But even if they say it just like that, we all know what they mean. Now, perhaps this is just a cultural thing (flaw?), but it’s big.

“What do you do?” is important to us.

I have some issues with that in spiritual terms. (Being is more important than doing, in my opinion). I have some issues with that in social terms. (Get a new question already, jeez! How boring.) I have some issues with having one seemingly small answer define me. (I am many things.)

But I’m willing to put my issues aside for a minute if you are.   And anyway, I think this is one of those paradoxes I find everywhere.  It’s not that important.  But, let’s face facts.

“So, what do you do?” is very important.

You heard me.  (That’s the paradox talking.)

Ok, so what DO you do? IS it important? Do you LOVE it? Do you wake up happy, thinking about it? Does it give you great joy to think about what you have put out in the world? Are you proud to say, “I AM a Northwestern Beetle Taxidermist.” Do you smile after you say that? (Well, you would, because who is THAT? Are YOU? How FASCINATING.)

My question REALLY is…

Does what you do with most of your time make your heart sing?

Gosh, I hope so. If not, start by watching the video below by Michael Bungay Stanier.

Let’s discuss. What do you think?

Connections: Enjoy the Ride

August 26th, 2010

“I’ve been your mother, I’ve been your father
who can ask me for more
I’ve been your sister, I’ve been your mistress
maybe I was your whore
who can ask me for more”

-Been It, The Cardigans

We are each our own universe. We are each at our own center. And yet, we have so many others within us. We have so many connections. It’s mind boggling at times. Like the song above references, we are so many things to so many people. And often so many things to just one person. Even if we just consider the life we are living now. But what about when we begin to consider other lifetimes? The possibility of connections grows exponentially.

Perhaps relationships have always been mind boggling. This is why humans have historically put our relationships in convenient boxes. So we could keep them in line. So we could label them, like Scuttle in The Little Mermaid, as Flounder imitates him… “This is this and that is that.”

Hilarious, in a sense. When I thought of this reference, I just thought of the labeling. I didn’t take into account the fact that he’s WRONG about everything. But isn’t that just the way it is sometimes?

What do we DO with this information? How do we make sense of it? On one level, we are dying to make sense of our various connections. We want them in their boxes. And yet, are we labeling them all wrong? Should they each have 1 label? Or 2? Or 10? Are forks ever really good for combing our hair? Maybe, in a pinch.

With Saturn, the planet of REALITY, traversing Libra, the sign of relationship, many of us are being confronted with these types of questions. Our relationships are being asked to grow up. They are being shaken, and sometimes stirred. And it can make us a little crazy. Especially in this age where we have so many more opportunities to connect with our mothers and our whores. (See the song above.)

I can’t say that I have the answer to the questions I seem to be posing. I just wanted to put it out there to let you know that if you are experiencing any or all of the above, you are not alone. I talk to a lot of people. Everyone is going through the same thing in their own unique way. The world is growing. We are all expanding and having new experiences. It’s a little freaky sometimes. I don’t have all the answers. Not sure I want all the answers. But what I can tell you is this:

It’s all ok.

Take a breath.
Live through it.
Do your best.
Enjoy the ride.

Enjoy the ride.

(Alternate title: Mothers and Whores)

What do you think?
(About the whole thing, not just the alternate title.)

You Need to Know this Man: Hemal Radia

August 20th, 2010

Isn’t it funny how you remember the exact moment some people come into your life and other people you have no idea? Well, my friend Hemal Radia of Manifesting and Law of Attraction falls into the second category. It must have been on Facebook, but I have NO IDEA how or when I met him. I’m just glad I did, and I’m happy to connect you to him now.

Hemal is a “Super” Coach, Speaker & Author on Manifesting & Law of Attraction. He is a man who effervesces Law of Attraction TRUTH by keeping himself in a state of flow and helping others to find and keep theirs. Here’s a video I made with a little bit more about Hemal and his Law of Attraction in Las Vegas event next month.

If you’d like to hear Hemal speak more about Manifesting and the Law of Attraction, I highly, highly, highly encourage you to check out this replay of the Power of the Angel Energy Hour radio show with my beautiful buds Sandra Boissier and Christiane Ashleine.

If you’d like to meet Hemal, Sandra, and myself this September in Vegas at his event, check out the Law of Attraction in Vegas event page. I truly believe this could be a life changing experience.

We’ll see YOU in Vegas, Baby. ::double guns:: ;)

Supercool Double Launch!

August 16th, 2010

Welcome to my Supercool Double Launch! What the heck am I double launching? Well, two things…

1. My astrology practice. That’s right. I’m now offering astrological readings. Very exciting. The superpower of self-knowledge, right in your ears, from me to you.
Click here for all the glorious details.

2. My mailing list. Never miss a single super thing. Yay! To learn more and/or sign up for my Supercool Mailing List, click here.

What was all this about a chance to win?

Good question.

I’m taking the two things I’m launching and mushing them together in a fun offer. Sorta like that whole chocolate and peanut butter thing. But…better?

For the month of August, if you sign up for the mailing list, you’ll automagically be entered in a drawing to win a free astrological reading. But don’t let that stop you from booking during August. If you win a reading, you can totally give it to a friend or family member. (And yes, you should say that last sentence in the inflection used by Ted of Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure.)

Thanks for being here. I really appreciate it, and be sure to be excellent to each other.

What’s So Divine About Social Media? NOW.

August 11th, 2010

I love social media. I’m one of the biggest Facebook addicts out there. In fact, I was just thinking, that’s the best place to get a hold of me. I love doing my Youtube vids, too. They’re not fancy. I like to do ‘em down and dirty. Get in, get out, get it posted, be done.

Isn’t this all just wasting time? Aren’t we all just goofing off?

Maybe. But my life is much, much richer and full of connection because of my social media use. While some people decry social media or the Internet in general as fragmenting our attention spans (it might be) or separating us from others (maybe a little), I embrace it. It’s happening. It exists. It’s where the action is. And most importantly, it’s NOW. As with anything else, you get out what you put into it.

But back to this idea of NOW. I love social media for immediacy. (Look… the word “media” is even in “immediacy”.) I am connected to far more people on a far more intimate, daily level because of this technology. I am in touch with people I wouldn’t be otherwise. I know people I wouldn’t otherwise. And the way I communicate is greatly enriched.

When I put something out there, it goes NOW. When I am inspired, I put it out NOW. My audience, my tribe, my friends, whatever you want to call them, get it NOW (if they are meant to). Isn’t that amazingly COOL? I think so! No lag time. Immediate creation. Inspiration can be fulfilled the moment it arrives.

Thoughts, ideas, songs, inspiration are available the moment they come in. This is a deeply spiritual thing. This NOWness is how the spiritual world works. The Universe is constantly evolving. To stay in your flow, to create the life about which you dream, staying in the NOW is essential. The NOW pulls everything together. It’s incredibly potent, powerful, and fun.

NOW is where it’s at. It’s all we have. And there’s a lot of NOW in social media. Let’s all swim around in it and live beautiful lives in the NOW. Love it.
